Ducts & Indoor Air Quality

Duct Cleaning, Duct Sealing & Indoor Air Quality in New Orleans

In New Orleans, ductwork usually lives in an attic that hits 130°F or more in summer. Leaky or dirty ducts pull in that hot, dusty, humid attic air and spread it through your home. We clean, seal and repair ducts and add the right air quality upgrades so your home feels cleaner and more comfortable.

  • Duct sealing and repair
  • Filtration and UV lights

Warning signs

Duct Cleaning & Indoor Air Quality: the warning signs

01

Dust comes back right after cleaning

If surfaces get dusty again within a day or two, leaky return ducts may be pulling dust and insulation from the attic.

02

Allergies are worse indoors

Pollen, pet dander and dust can build up in ducts and recirculate every time the system runs.

03

Musty smell from the vents

A musty odor can mean moisture on the coil, in the drain pan or in the ducts. In our humidity, it's worth checking for microbial growth.

04

Some rooms are always hot

Disconnected, crushed or leaking ducts in the attic can starve rooms of cool air. Leaks waste energy you're paying Entergy for.

05

Sweating vents or ducts

Condensation on supply registers or ducts usually means poor insulation, air leaks or high indoor humidity.

06

Indoor humidity stays above 60%

Sticky floors, foggy windows and clammy air mean the system isn't keeping up with moisture. Ideally indoor humidity stays around 40–50%.

What to do next

Better air starts with these steps

  1. 1

Replace your filter with a quality pleated filter that fits snugly, and check it monthly in summer.

  2. 2

Pick up an inexpensive hygrometer to see your actual indoor humidity. Aim for 40–50%.

  3. 3

Set the thermostat fan to AUTO, not ON. Running the fan constantly re-evaporates moisture from the wet coil back into your home.

  4. 4

Vacuum supply vents and return grilles, and wipe them with a damp cloth.

  5. 5

Make sure nothing blocks the return air grille so the system can breathe.

  6. 6

Run bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans during and after showers and cooking.

Safety first: Don't spray bleach, disinfectants or fogger products into your ductwork or onto the coil. They can damage components and leave fumes. Don't crawl through a summer attic to inspect ducts. Attic heat in New Orleans is dangerous, and it's easy to step through a ceiling. If you suspect mold, let a pro assess it.

Call a pro right away if…

  • You see visible mold or growth on vents, the air handler or ductwork.
  • Someone in your home has asthma or allergies that worsen indoors.
  • You've had renovation, water damage or pests in the attic.
  • Indoor humidity stays above 60% even with the AC running.

When we arrive

What to expect from our visit

  1. 1

    Inspect before we sell anything

We check the ductwork, air handler, coil, drain pan and filtration, and measure humidity. If your ducts don't need cleaning, we'll tell you.

  2. 2

    Find the leaks

Using visual inspection and thermal imaging, we look for disconnected runs, crushed ducts and leaks that pull in attic air.

  3. 3

    Clean, seal and repair

Depending on what we find, we clean ducts, seal joints with mastic, reconnect or replace damaged runs and improve insulation on exposed ducts.

  4. 4

    Upgrade the air

Where it makes sense, we add better filtration, UV lights to keep the coil clean, or a whole-home dehumidifier for persistent moisture.

  5. 5

    Verify the results

We check airflow and humidity after the work and explain what we did, with a flat-rate price you approved upfront.

Preventative care

How to keep it from happening again

Seal ducts, don't just clean them

Cleaning removes buildup, but sealing stops dusty, humid attic air from getting pulled in to begin with.

Keep humidity in check

Staying around 40–50% indoor humidity helps keep mold and dust mites down. Read our Louisiana humidity guide.

Keep the drain pan clean

Standing water in the pan grows slime and odors. Treat the line and get the pan checked during maintenance.

Don't oversize

An oversized system short-cycles and never pulls out enough moisture. If you're replacing, ask about a properly sized system.

Use a humidity-sensing thermostat

A smart thermostat with humidity control can run the system longer to dry the air when needed.

Honest pricing

What it costs

Cost depends on the size of your duct system, how accessible it is, whether we're cleaning, sealing, repairing or replacing runs, and which air quality upgrades, if any, make sense for your home. A one-story Metairie ranch with an easy attic is a different job from a two-story Uptown home with tight crawl spaces. We inspect first and give you a flat-rate price upfront, and we won't sell you duct cleaning you don't need.

  • $99 diagnostic, waived with repair
  • Flat-rate price approved before work
  • No overtime fees — ever
  • Military discount available

FAQ

Duct Cleaning & Indoor Air Quality questions, answered

How often should ducts be cleaned in New Orleans?
There's no fixed schedule. Cleaning makes sense after renovation, water damage, pest problems or visible buildup. For most homes, sealing leaks and changing filters regularly does more than frequent cleaning.
Will duct cleaning fix my humidity problem?
Not on its own. Humidity problems usually come from an oversized system, a fan set to ON, leaky ducts pulling in attic air or a system that needs service. We'll find the cause and recommend the right fix.
Do UV lights really help?
UV lights installed near the indoor coil can help keep it free of mold and biological growth, which is a common issue in humid climates. They're a helpful add-on, not a replacement for good filtration and humidity control.
Can you remove mold from my ducts?
We can inspect, clean the air handler and coil, and fix the moisture problem that's causing growth. For widespread mold, we may recommend a mold remediation specialist and fix the HVAC side so it doesn't come back.
