Warning signs
24/7 Emergency AC Repair: the warning signs
01
No cooling at all in high heat
With 95°F days and a heat index past 110°F, a home without AC can climb into unsafe territory within hours, especially upstairs and in camelbacks.
02
Burning smell or smoke
An electrical smell from vents, the air handler or the outdoor unit means a component is overheating. Turn the system off at the thermostat and call.
03
Water coming through the ceiling
An overflowing attic drain pan can ruin drywall and insulation quickly. Shut the AC off and call us to clear the line.
04
Breaker trips every time the AC starts
Repeated tripping usually points to a shorted motor, a failing compressor or a wiring problem. It needs a technician, not more resets.
05
Loud banging or grinding
Sudden loud noises can mean a broken fan blade, a failing motor bearing or a compressor in trouble. Running it longer can make the damage worse.
06
AC died after a storm or power outage
Afternoon thunderstorms and grid flickers can take out capacitors, contactors and control boards. We see a spike in these calls every summer.
What to do next
AC emergency? Do this while we're on the way
- 1
If you smell burning, see smoke or have water coming through the ceiling, turn the thermostat to OFF right away.
- 2
Check the thermostat is set to COOL with fresh batteries. Some emergencies turn out to be a dead thermostat.
- 3
Check the AC breaker. Reset it once if it's tripped. If it trips again, leave it off.
- 4
If water is leaking, put a bucket or towels under the drip and move valuables out of the way.
- 5
Close blinds on sunny windows, run ceiling fans and keep everyone in the coolest room on the lowest floor.
- 6
Have kids, older family members and pets drink water and watch for signs of heat illness while you wait.
Safety first: Don't keep resetting a tripping breaker, don't open the outdoor unit or touch the capacitor (it can hold a charge with the power off), and don't run a system that's smoking, iced over or was sitting in floodwater. If anyone shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 first.
Call a pro right away if…
- Anyone in the home is elderly, an infant, pregnant or has a medical condition made worse by heat.
- You smell burning or see sparks or smoke.
- Water is pouring from the ceiling or air handler.
- The breaker trips again after a single reset.
- Indoor temperatures are rising past the mid-80s and still climbing.

Preventative care
How to keep it from happening again
Tune up before the heat
Most emergency calls start as a weak capacitor or clogged drain that a spring tune-up would have caught.
Install surge protection
Summer thunderstorms and power blips are hard on AC electronics. Ask about whole-home surge protection.
Keep the drain line clear
A monthly cup of distilled white vinegar in the condensate access port during summer helps prevent the clogs that cause overflows and shutdowns.
Don't ignore small changes
New noises, longer run times or a sticky-feeling house are early warnings. A daytime repair is easier on everyone than a 2am emergency.
Honest pricing
What it costs
Emergency service costs the same as daytime service. No overtime fees, ever, for nights, weekends or holidays. Every call starts with a $99 diagnostic that's waived when you approve the repair. The repair itself is priced flat-rate based on the part and the work involved, and you see and approve that price before we start. If the fix needs a part we don't carry on the van, we'll explain your options and timing upfront. Members of our Comfort Club also get priority scheduling.

- Flat-rate price approved before work
- No overtime fees — ever
- Military discount available
- Comfort Club members save 15% on parts
