Ductless Mini-Splits
Ductless Mini-Split Installation & Repair in New Orleans
Plenty of New Orleans homes were built long before central air. Shotguns, doubles, Creole cottages and camelbacks often have little room for ductwork, and that's where ductless mini-splits shine. They cool room by room, control humidity well and need only a small hole through the wall.
- Great for historic homes
- Room-by-room zoning
- No ductwork needed

Warning signs
Ductless Mini-Splits: the warning signs
01
Your home has no ductwork
Many historic shotguns and doubles were built without ducts. Mini-splits add efficient cooling without tearing into plaster walls and ceilings.
02
One room never cools down
A camelback bedroom, sunroom or back addition that's always hot can get its own dedicated unit and its own thermostat.
03
You're finishing a garage or workshop
Extending ductwork to a garage, studio or converted space is often costly. A mini-split handles it on its own.
04
Window units are wearing you out
Window units are noisy, block light and pull less moisture. A mini-split is quieter and does a better job with humidity.
05
Your mini-split is dripping or not cooling
Leaks from the indoor head, weak airflow or error codes usually mean a clogged drain, dirty filter or coil, or a refrigerant issue.
06
You want to cut cooling bills
Mini-splits use inverter compressors that ramp up and down instead of cycling on and off, and you only cool the rooms you're using.
What to do next
Mini-split acting up? Check this first
- 1
Make sure the remote is set to COOL or DRY mode, not FAN or HEAT, and replace the remote batteries.
- 2
Open the front panel of the indoor head and check the washable filters. Rinse them in lukewarm water and let them dry fully before reinstalling.
- 3
Write down any error code or blinking light pattern on the indoor unit. It helps us diagnose faster.
- 4
Check the breaker for the mini-split. Reset it once if tripped. If it trips again, leave it off.
- 5
Clear debris and plants away from the outdoor unit so it can breathe.
- 6
If the indoor head is dripping, turn the system off and put a towel underneath until we can clear the drain.
Safety first: Don't spray cleaner into the indoor unit's coil or blower wheel, and don't take the head off the wall. Don't open the outdoor unit or touch electrical parts. Refrigerant and wiring work needs a licensed technician.
Call a pro right away if…
- Water is dripping from the indoor head onto walls or floors.
- The unit shows an error code that returns after a reset.
- You see ice on the indoor unit or refrigerant lines.
- The outdoor unit is running but the room isn't cooling.
When we arrive
What to expect from our visit
- 1
Room-by-room assessment
We look at each space you want to cool, measure heat load, and plan where indoor heads and the outdoor unit will go with care for your home's historic details.
- 2
Clear design and quote
You get a plan showing the number of zones, unit sizes and placement, with a flat-rate installed price before any work starts.
- 3
Clean installation
We mount the indoor heads, run refrigerant and drain lines through a small wall opening, set the outdoor unit and connect power, keeping line sets tidy and protected.
- 4
Test and walk-through
We pressure test and evacuate the lines, check performance in every zone and show you how to use the remote, DRY mode and filter cleaning.
Preventative care
How to keep it from happening again
Clean filters monthly
Mini-split filters clog fast in summer. A quick rinse each month keeps airflow strong and the coil clean.
Use DRY mode on muggy days
On mild but humid days, DRY mode pulls moisture without overcooling, which is ideal for New Orleans spring and fall.
Get the coil and blower cleaned
Indoor heads can collect mold and grime in our humidity. A professional cleaning during maintenance keeps them fresh.
Keep the outdoor unit clear
Leave about two feet of open space around it, and keep it elevated and strapped in flood-prone areas.
Honest pricing
What it costs
Mini-split pricing depends mostly on the number of zones (indoor heads), the capacity each room needs, how far refrigerant lines have to run, the type of indoor unit (wall, ceiling or floor) and any electrical work needed. A single-zone garage or addition is a very different job from cooling a whole double. We assess your home and give you a flat-rate installed price in writing before anything starts. For mini-split repairs, the $99 diagnostic is waived when you approve the fix.
- $99 diagnostic, waived with repair
